Early 20th century Danish Neoclassical cast bronze nude female sculpture. Hollow-cast in heavy brass or bronze alloy depicting a classical female nude in motion, modeled as a variant of Venus tying or removing her sandal. The figure incorporates classicized Greco-Roman figurative motifs executed with sleek, elongated Art Deco proportions. The surface features a dark green verdigris patinated finish, displaying exposed warm bronze tones along high-contact areas, including the arm and back, where handling and age have thinned the outer layer. The underside reveals hollow-cast construction housing remaining original foundry core material and threaded iron mounting studs embedded within the base structure.
During the Interwar period (1920s–1930s), Scandinavian foundries (such as Just Andersen and Lauritz Rasmussen) produced heavy, patinated brass, bronze, and alloy art objects. These pieces combined classical Greco-Roman motifs with sleek Art Deco proportions, finished with deep antique-style patinas designed for modern interior decoration.
