19th Century Swedish Painted Pine Trestle Clothes Horse / Garment Rack with Tusk Tenons.
Constructed from hand-planed solid pine, this demountable garment rack utilizes traditional tusk tenon joinery, where horizontal stretchers pass through vertical stiles and lock into place with removable wooden wedges. The upper rail holds 14 hand-turned wooden pegs, 7 on each side mounted flush into the frame. The structure rests on dual trestle feet with shaped arched cutouts for stability. The surface features distressed, multi-layered chalky white paint over natural pine, exhibiting areas of paint loss, surface abrasions, and oxidation consistent with 19th-century Swedish Allmoge (folk Art/utilitarian) furniture.
