19th c, Late Gustavian Pedestal Cabinet

19th century Swedish late Gustavian / early Empire pedestal cabinet in it's original finish. Ca 1810-20 Sweden. 

The front door panel is adorned with a dramatic, highly textured pewter/lead mount featuring a central anthemion (palmette) springing from a rosette flanked by twisted stems and intricate poppy pods. 

Pieces of this scale and form are incredibly versatile in both traditional and modern interiors. It serves brilliantly in its original purpose as a plinth for a piece of fine sculpture, but it also works beautifully as an unexpected side table, a standalone architectural accent in a hallway, or as a sophisticated pedestal for a grand floral arrangement.

Good original condition. Wear consistent with age and use.
